WWE RAW 4.16.18: The Three Key Stories And Superstar Shakeup Thoughts w/Justin C

1. Hopefully That Isn’t The End Of The Sasha/Bayley Feud

I was really hoping this match would be an all out brawl. It started like any other basic match. There was a brief minute later on in the match where they both started brawling, and the crowd LOVED it. And then the Riott Squad interfered. Hopefully Sasha or Bayley don’t get drafted to Smackdown because I really want to see them have one more match, a proper one. The feud has been good so far and it deserves to have a proper blow off match.

2. Samoa Joe 2, Roman Reigns 0

For the second week in a row Samoa Joe absolutely killed Roman Reigns on the mic. And what was Reigns response this week? To call Joe a lazy fat ass. Who does he think he is? Scott Steiner? Joe comes off as an absolute bad ass on the mic. And even from a kayfabe stand point he’s been telling nothing but the truth when it comes to Reigns failures against Brock Lesnar. Reigns started with the same shit about Brock not being there again too. Do they not realize that isn’t working? Part of the reason Reigns has failed is because he comes off looking like a complete dweeb in promos like this. Of course, that is also because the WWE doesn’t know how to book their top faces.

3. I Wish Kurt Angle Was In My Fantasy Football League

Boy, when you read the list of people who were drafted to RAW below, you really wonder what Kurt Angle was thinking. Outside of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, everyone here is nothing but a mid-carder. You could argue Smackdown Live got better with everyone they lost. And hell, they gained the Miz tonight. And that immediately sets up a potential Bryan/Miz feud which should be quite heated. No one cared about Bobby Roode and were expecting someone bigger for the final ten man tag. Reviewing RAW is going to be a chore in the months ahead.

Drafted to RAW

Jinder Mahal- This was the first pick. I mean, they can only get better from here on out. Jinder sucks no matter what brand he is on. I guess this means Seth Rollins is going to Smackdown.

Riott Squad- I mean they were jobbed out to pretty much everyone on Smackdown. And with Carmella as the new Smackdown Women’s Champion and the Iconic Duo (I refuse to call them the Iiconics) they would have been very low on the totem poll on Smackdown.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn- Obviously makes sense. And I’m glad they explained why they got signed, rather than figuring out how Sami and KO could get drafted if they didn’t have jobs.

Zack Ryder- This was announced via tweet, so it goes to show you how important it was to the WWE. If it was me I’d draft Ryder to the unemployment line.

Breezango- There was a time where I had hope for these two but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. They are essentially a new version of Heath Slater and Rhyno.

Natalya- All heels for the most part so far. This almost guarantees Alexa and Mickie moving to Smackdown. And if I’m being honest Natalya is a good first “real” opponent for Ronda Rousey.

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre- My god is RAW getting the shaft. McIntyre is alright. But paired with Ziggler? That is random as fuck. There is almost zero incentive for anyone to watch RAW at the moment with all these picks.

Baron Corbin- Are they trying to get people to not watch RAW? Or are they lining up people to feed to Reigns in the coming months?

Mojo Rawley- I have a soft spot for Mojo, but they really are just flipping mid-card guys aren’t they?

Mike Bennett- LOL

The Ascension- LOLOL

Bobby Roode- He was floundering on Smackdown and I think he will be overpushed on RAW.

Until Next Time,

Justin C
