NJPW G1 Climax 28 Night 13 Review 8.2.18 W/5 Minute Wrestling Reviews

Night 13 of the G1 Climax 28 tournament had a solid night of action, with the main event being worthy of your time. Okada and Suzuki seem to always put in great performances with one another, and this time was no different. The standings are getting tight, and with only 2 more nights of A block action it will be interesting to see how it all turns out! • Michael Elgin vs. Bad Luck Fale: They brawl to the floor early with Fale getting the advantage. Fale targets the arm that is injured. Elgin fights back with jumping back elbow for 2. Fale hits a big splash for 2. They trade strikes, but Elgin hits a big discus elbow for 2. Ref bump occurs and Loa gets involved by Elgin suplexes him. Fale eats a body slam but Tonga comes in and attacks with a chair for the DQ. *3/4

• Togi Makabe vs. Hangman Page: Page gets whipped into the barricade early but fights back with a tope. Page hits a pumphandle slam for 2. Makabe hits a big powerslam and northern lights suplex for 2. Makabe lands a big lariat and top rope overhead toss. They trade lariats and buckshot lariat gets 2. Rites of Passage gets the win. ***

• Jay White vs. YOSHI-HASHI: White attacks early and slams YH into the apron and barricade. White grabs a chair but YH hits a baseball slide and follows with a blockbuster for 2. They trade some nearfalls and YH hits a powerbomb for 2. Ref bump happens but YH is able to hit backstabber and fisherman buster for 2. Bladerunner ends it. **3/4

• Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. EVIL:  They counter early before Evil hits a big senton for 2. Tana fights out of a double arm hold and hits a senton for 2. They brawl outside and Tana eats a lariat and bronco buster for 2. Evil picks up a couple more nearfalls but Tana hits a slingblade for 2. Cross body is followed by a missed HFF. Darkness falls gets 2 followed by a monster lariat for 2. Tana hits Everything is evil and HFF to win. ***1/2

• Kazuchika Okada vs. Minoru Suzuki: Suzuki attacks early and uses chairs and barricades in the crowd. Okada gets tossed into chairs and beat down with them. Okada beats the count but eats a big boot from the apron to the floor. Suzuki chokes Okada with his shirt and they trade forearms. Suzuki locks in an armbar and PK. He goes back to attacking the arms with Okada doing great selling. Okada shows fire and hits a shotgun dropkick. They go back to trading forearms and Okada takes off his elbow pad. Suzuki lands a huge slap and then goes on a barrage of strikes. Okada fights back with a slap but runs into a Suzuki dropkick. Suzuki lays in a choke and abdominal stretch, but Okada delivers a tombstone. Suzuki tries for another tombstone but Okada hits one of his own and delivers a pair of Rainmakers to win. ****1/4

Overall: 6.5/10
