Notes from All Elite Wrestling Press Conference

All Elite Wrestling held their introductory press conference today. Here are the main notes from it:

-The big news is that Chris Jericho announced he was “all in” with All Elite Wrestling. This is big because Chris Jericho pretty much always said that he would never work for anyone in North America besides Vince McMahon. Jericho said it isn’t about the money for him, though I’m sure he is going to get paid a pretty penny by AEW. Jericho may be the focus of the company to start, but I wouldn’t make him the focal point of the company.

-It was also announced that PAC (formerly Neville in the WWE) as well as Joey Janela and Penelope Ford will be a part of the promotion. Britt Baker, SoCal Uncensored and MJF were also announced as being in AEW.

-No TV deal was announced, but Double or Nothing will be taking place Saturday, May 25 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

-Brandi Rhodes was announced as the chief branding officer. She said women will be paid equal to men, though I’m sure there are some caveats in that statement. Like, there is no way Britt Baker is going to be paid as much as Chris Jericho.

-They hinted that healthcare may be provided for their wrestlers but nothing was confirmed yet.

-There were production problems early on. The stream died and I at least had some issues with the audio.

-Cody was announced as the Executive Vice President.

Cam and I will have our thoughts on this tomorrow on the HTCWrestling Podcast. It was a decent first start, but they will need to start building a roster other than buddies of The Elite soon. And I’ll still be curious to see where they end up on TV.
