I feel bad for these guys having to follow that match. SHO and YOH hit double dives to the outside to start the match. Just some great chain mat wrestling in the first two minutes. Non stop that ended in a staredown. Both men apply a strangle hold and both men escape from it. Sanada kicks ZSJ to the outside and ZSJ throws a fit. ZSJ gets some mat control back in the ring. Sanada escapes and dropkicks the right leg of ZSJ. WINNER and NEW Never Openweight Champion: Hirooki Goto- Match was fine. I personally would have have kept the Title on KENTA and let him grow as this heel character. Goto really doesn’t need the Title and it doesn’t do much for him holding it.

WINNER: Jay White- Kind of surprised by that outcome. But they went to super lengths to protect Ibushi. He had the pinfall win twice but was screwed over by Gedo. Crowd really didn’t have the energy for the match. They probably saw it as a consolation match and didn’t care much for it. You have to hope that they haven’t ruined Ibushi’s overness with the crowd with these two losses this weekend. I think he will be fine.

WINNER: Chris Jericho- That might have been my favorite Chris Jericho match in New Japan. Both guys played to each other’s strengths and were great playing to the crowd. Jericho didn’t need all the bells and whistles to get through the match like you would have thought. No AEW Title match in the near future for Tanahashi.
