Roman Reigns OUT of Wrestlemania 36 Match w/Goldberg

Wrestlemania 36 will go down as one of the most talked about Wrestlemanias in history. The behind the scenes documentaries and stories about it will be great.

Ryan Satin reported late Thursday night that Roman Reigns will not compete at Wrestlemania 36 against Goldberg for the Universal Championship. Here is the reason for Reigns withdrawl from the report:

Sources with knowledge of the situation tell us Reigns expressed to WWE that he didn’t feel comfortable doing anymore of the Performance Center shows during the coronavirus pandemic because he’s immunocompromised from his battle with leukemia and didn’t want to risk his health.

There had been whispers throughout the day that some talent were not happy about performing still on Twitter. Specifically, the Twitter account WrestleVotes had hinted at this in the afternoon with the following tweet:

No one else has pulled out of Wrestlemania at the time of this article.

Justin C’s Take: I commend Reigns for standing up for himself. While I have no issue with the WWE doing Wrestlemania and taking a break, I can see why someone in the position of Reigns would not want to work the show. Given Reigns immune system issues he is at a higher risk, no matter what kind of precautions the WWE takes with people entering the Performance Center.

So what does the WWE do now? There are options. You could just not have Goldberg on the card and hold off on the match. You could replace Reigns with someone already on the roster in Braun Strowman, Kofi or Big E. You could get really ballsy and have Matt Riddle beat Goldberg.

Or you could just postpone Wrestlemania. But Vince wouldn’t do that. We mentioned today on the Hot Tag Wrestling Podcast Wrestlemania 36 Preview Show that the WWE should take a break after Wrestlemania. Maybe this will be what drives Vince to actually do that.
